Moment of Gratitude: Emily Caisip
Brooklyn-based artist Emily Caisip’s Moment of Gratitude depicts tall plants that represent the high rises that are continuously being built in New York City. The leaves from above on the mural represent the many responsibilities and stresses that humans encounter on a daily basis. The floating flowers represent the “moment of gratitude”—the exact moment where each person stops, takes in his or her experience, accepts and is happy with where he or she lands.
Caisip works primarily with ink creating works intricately drawn and inspired by nature and she studied Illustration at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California.
Following on a long tradition of Front Street Murals, this mural was commissioned by the Dumbo Improvement District in partnership with NYCDOT through an RFP process and installed in March 2019.
