Dumbo Walls: Murals for the Movement / Back to the Essence, Brooklyn by Victor ‘Marka27’ Quinonez

In 2021, the Downtown Brooklyn + Dumbo Art Fund–a project of the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership and the Dumbo Improvement District, as part of New York State’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative–installed MURALS FOR THE MOVEMENT, a trio of murals with works by Cey Adams, Victor "Marka27" Quinonez and Sophia Dawson.

Murals for the Movement in an an artistic endeavor by Street Theory Gallery intended to amplify communities with uplifting large-scale murals by Black Artists and Artists of Color.

"This mural celebrates the African Diaspora and contemporary Afro Futurism. The two strong females are a symbol of strength, black pride and beauty. The multi-cultural patterns are inspired by African mud cloth and the tropical background, bold colors, and nature all tie back to the motherland Africa" - Marka27

This mural was installed on the BQE on ramp at 195 Gold Street in partnership with the New York City Department of Transportation's Art Program in October 2021
