Commenced as an online forum in 2003, MINUS SPACE has been a growing project between Matthew Deleget and Rossina Martinez. The first gallery was located in Gowanus, and in 2011, it moved to DUMBO.
MINUS SPACE specializes in contemporary reductive abstract art, generally characterized by use of plainspoken materials, monochromatic or limited color, geometry and pattern, repetition and seriality, precise craftsmanship, and intellectual rigor. Reductive art is inclusive and pluralistic in its approach, including geographic location, age, gender, medium, artistic strategy, and content of work. The gallery is host to solo and group exhibitions of pioneering emerging and established artists and estates from the United States, Europe, South America, and Australasia.
Matthew and Rossana are also both exhibiting artists and remain very connected to the art community. Living in Boerum Hill with their son, their daily jogs regularly take them through the DUMBO waterfront, close to where the gallery is now located.
