Redbeard Bikes Sunday Shop Ride

Redbeard Bikes (69 Jay) hosts a shop ride every Sunday morning for local customers and cycling enthusiasts. Riders of all levels are welcome! This is a no-drop ride, which means it will go at the pace of the slowest rider.

How far? The ride is about 40 miles round-trip, though the distance will vary depending on the group. The typical route is: West Side Greenway, George Washington Bridge, River Road.

When? The group meets Sunday mornings at 69 Jay Street at 7:15 AM and departs at 7:30 AM.
What should you bring? Ilya and Kasia at Redbeard Bikes recommend:
  • Helmet
  • Water
  • Sunscreen
  • Comfortable riding clothes. Bike shorts make a world of difference on a long ride. And most cycling jerseys have ample pockets to store your stuff. Bonus points if you wear a Redbeard jersey!
  • Two spare tubes. The Redbeard crew always travels with tools, so we'll be able to fix flats on the road, but it's best practice to bring your own tubes.
  • A small snack -- something easy to eat on the fly!
What bike should you ride? Kasia says, "You can ride any bike you like, but keep in mind that we'll be covering about 40 miles, including hills! Geared bikes are better suited than single speeds, and road bikes with drop bars will probably be more comfortable than flat-bar bikes. That said, if you only have a flat-bar bike, join us anyway, and go as far as you can!" The event is free and no RSVP is necessary so come ride!
