New Year, New Snow: Winter Storm Warning for NYC

Happy New Year, DUMBO! Mother Nature's New Year resolution was apparently to dump a bunch of snow along the East Coast ASAP. Be advised that there is a Winter Storm Warning for New York City and the surrounding region through Friday afternoon.

Things will start to pick up Thursday during the evening commute: this storm could bring 4 - 8 inches of snow to NYC and 10+ inches outside of the City and on Long Island. In addition to the snow accumulation, there will be high winds and very low temperatures to deal with. NYC Office of Emergency Management has also issued a Hazardous Travel Advisory.

The DUMBO Clean Team will be in the neighborhood to prep and deal with snow removal and will prioritize service with a focus on shoveling and de-icing sidewalk crosswalk corners. Clean Team service will continue unless deemed unsafe or crew members are unable to reach the District due to dangerous road conditions or cancelled mass transit service.

Private commercial and residential property managers should be prepared to address conditions in front of their properties, including keeping the sidewalk clear of snow and ice with regular shoveling and de-icing.

Keep track of where the Department of Sanitation is plowing here.

Keep an eye on the DUMBO BID's and NYC Office of Emergency Management's Twitter account for updates.

Stay safe, DUMBO. Spring's only 79 days away...
