MMNY Brings Silent Disco to DUMBO Archway

On June 21st, Make Music New York (MMNY) returns to celebrate the start of summer in the best way possible: free outdoor concerts.  Over 1,000 jam sessions, DJ battles, and performances will transform New York’s streets into the biggest music festival of the year.

DUMBO is hosting several events throughout the day, including an a capella bass meet up,  a hum-a-long, and a six hour long concert at BargeMusic. But if you don’t want the party to stop, head to The Archway after dark for one of the festivals top events, a silent disco under the Manhattan Bridge!

MMNY partnered with Sound Off Experience and the DUMBO BID to create this awesome opportunity for music lovers.  Participants will receive a set of wireless noise canceling headphones, giving them full control over their music experience.  Thanks to separate DJ sets, partygoers may find themselves dancing to dubstep while their neighbors gyrate to hip hop.  Only participants wearing headphones will be able to hear the music.

If you’re not a fan of club music, silent discos are fun even just to watch as the participants dance to what seems like silence.  The best part?  Dancing and conversations are usually exclusive activities at the club but not at the silent disco.  If you want to take a break, slip off your headphones and talk to your friends, no shouting necessary.

This event will feature performances by ATOM and Bucky James from 8:00 – 9:30pm and SicksentzSambarella and DJ Peridot from 9:30 – 11:00pm.

This will be one night you won’t want to miss!
