Is it Spring yet? Indoor Activities for Kids

Spring is just around the corner! But until the weather warms up, here are a handful of indoor activity ideas to keep DUMBO's little ones busy:

  • Get musical at EGG! Two upcoming performances -- Mil’s Trills on March 8 and Rolie Polie Guacamole on March 16 -- offer parents and kids an opportunity to listen, dance and engage at EGG.
  • Sign up for a mid-winter recess fund day art camp at Creatively Wild! Registration is open now for full and half-day winter art camp at Creatively Wild Art Studio running March 25-April 2. Activities include drawing, cartooning, painting, mixed-media, and sculpting. Contact for details.
  • Get a haircut at Pomme! Twice a month, popular hairdresser Nancy sets up shop at Pomme to cut and tame tresses. She’s a natural with kids and has lots of things to keep them occupied while she cuts. Walk-ins welcome, but appointments are highly recommended as Nancy is very popular.
  • Listen to a story at P.S. Bookshop! Every Thursday afternoon from 4-5pm P.S. Bookshop hosts a weekly playdate with stories, songs, and discussion on pressing matters like "How do we really feel about going to bed on time?" $5 per family; RSVP appreciated.
  • Enter Dewey's Candy window-decorating contest! Sharpen those pencils and break out the sketchpad. Dewey's Candy invites artists of all levels to redesign the store window for Easter. The winner will receive a pound of free candy -- plus sweet bragging rights. Application deadline is March 8.
  • Grab a sweet snack! Between DUMBO Kitchen, One Girl Cookies, Jacques Torres, Dewey's Candy, and newly-reopened Almondine, yummy options abound in DUMBO. (Just don't forget to brush your teeth!)
  • Take a spin on Jane's Carousel! With its spectacular views and waterfront location, this lovingly-restored carousel is a delights for kids of all ages. Current hours are Thursday-Sunday from 11am-6pm.
