DUMBO Newsmakers (3/25)

In scanning recent headlines, we recognized a few familiar faces. Here's who's making news:

  •  The New York Times highlighted one of the nation's fastest growing labor organizations with a piece on Freelancer's Union executive director Sara Horowitz.
  • Over lunch at Rebar, POV executive director Simon Kilmurray chatted with Crain's New York about winning the $1 million MacArthur Foundation award, how digital is changing the film industry, and how many documentaries he sees a year (answer: "hundreds").
  • The New York Times profiled 37-year old Jay Parkinson, MD, founder of Sherpaa, a VC-funded healthcare startup that functions like a "virtual doctor's office." 10 Jay is to traditional healthcare space what Dr. Parkinson is to a traditional healthcare provider.
  • Crain's New York named Jed Walentas, principal at Two Trees Management Co. (and DUMBO Improvement District board member) to its 2013 40 Under 40 list. Among his first tasks entering the family-owned business? Converting the landmark Clock Tower Building into condos.
