Intern with Dumbo!

Want to have your finger on the pulse of one of Brooklyn’s most exciting neighborhoods? Join our team! We're currently hiring interns for January - May 2019. 

The DUMBO Improvement District is looking to hire interns to assist with the development, planning, production, promotion and documentation of a wide range of community events, including gallery walks, food festivals, public art installations, city planning initiatives. If you’re an urbanist with an entrepreneurial spirit and a creative spark, this is the perfect hands-on learning opportunity!

The Positions

Events + Marketing Intern:

The DUMBO Improvement District seeks a Events + Marketing Intern who will work directly with the Director of Marketing and Events on marketing all the cool things happening in DUMBO. This includes helping to produce our robust schedule of Archway programming, profiling companies, businesses and residents in the neighborhood, writing articles about neighborhood trends, working on website development, and tackling social media projects on Instagram and Facebook.

Requirements:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills;
  • Responsible and detail oriented;
  • Enthusiasm and experience for all things Social Media;
  • Experience with website content development and management;
  • General knowledge of DUMBO / Brooklyn neighborhood development (or a desire to learn);
  • Office experience working at a small nonprofit or startup;
  • Events or stage management experience a plus;
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite a plus.



Community Development Intern:

Community Development interns assist with a wide array of urban planning, public space design and programming, economic development, asset mapping, communications and neighborhood outreach activities. If you're an urbanist with an entrepreneurial spirit and a creative spark, this is the perfect hands-on learning opportunity!

Requirements:

  • Desire to work on community development opportunities;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills;
  • Overall tech savvy-ness, including GIS and Adobe Creative Suite;
  • Experience with website content development and management;
  • General knowledge of DUMBO / Brooklyn neighborhood development (or a desire to learn);
  • Office experience working at a small nonprofit or startup.

Schedule

Minimum 24 hours per week; office hours are Monday-Friday from 10am-6pm. Additional nights and weekends will be required; schedule will be shared with prospective candidates in advance.
