First Thursday Spotlight: Serenade for New York

On April 4, our First Thursday Gallery Walk welcomes spring with international line-up of cultural activity, including Nordic Outbreak, an outdoor projection in the Archway featuring contemporary Scandinavian artists, Franco Pagetti's photographs of Iraq at VII Gallery, and mariachi bands at Rabbithole.

Yes, mariachi bands! This month, our top First Thursday pick is photographer Paola Núñez Solorio's Serenade for New York at Rabbithole. This exhibition explores mariachi as a fundamental element of traditional Mexican culture and vehicle for the transmission of heritage and history from one generation to another. First Thursday's opening reception will feature special performances by Mariachi Tapatío de Álvaro Paulino and Mariachi Real de México de Ramón Ponce.

Check out the full First Thursday line-up here, and then customize your own itinerary with our handy DUMBO Decoder. Oh, and don't forget about our neighborhood happy hours specials!
