The Asian American Arts Alliance has been supporting artists in NYC since then through a diverse slate of programs, adapting to artists’ needs and to the organizational possibilities over the decades. It was founded in 1984 to support Asian American Arts organizations, primarily in Chinatown.

Janelle Sunwoo

Dr. Janelle Sunwoo MD is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine. She was one of a very few chosen by the prestigious Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education in New York City; a unique, accelerated medical program that emphasizes the need for primary care physicians in New York. While there, she was exposed to cultural competence and awareness, performed community health assessments, and worked throughout New York City to promote preventive medicine. She was also president of a New York chapter of the American Medical Women’s Association and is a strong advocate for women’s health. A Dumbonian herself, she has been caring for our community at Leaf Medical for over a decade.

The DUMBO + Vinegar Hill CSA (Community Supported Agriculture)'s vegetables come from Sang Lee Farms, a certified organic vegetable farm out on the north fork of Long Island. They grow more than 100 varieties of specialty vegetables, heirloom tomatoes, baby greens, mesclun, herbs, asian greens, and flowers!

Loop of the Loom is also an artistic community that enjoys the freedom and love of SAORI weaving. Here we practice the philosophy of SAORI like a zen dojo by weaving to find our inner peace. You will not be forced to copy the technique, nor be judged because we all respect individuality.

Through over 15 years of teaching experience, we have originated a unique session named "Mindful Zen Weaving" which has been providing thousands of people around the world with a meditative and aesthetic weaving experience. Mimi co-founded nARCHITECTS with Eric Bunge with a belief in architecture as an agent of positive change, responding to and connecting people with the environment in unexpected ways. Responding to our world in flux while fostering social engagement guides her work. Born in the tropics of Vietnam and trained in Amsterdam and New York City, she brings a global outlook and an obsession with greenery to the firm’s design culture. Mimi teaches graduate design studios as an Adjunct Associate Professor at Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation and previously taught at Yale University. She received her Master in Architecture from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design and her Bachelor of Science in Art and Design from M.I.T.

Randi Song - Dumbo Station

Randi has long ties to Dumbo: as a resident; as the owner of Half Pint Citizens (a kids shop on Washington St from 2005 to 2018); as co-owner of the Dumbo Station (the Dumbo Archway’s al fresco bar) and NY Love (where you can find all Dumbo - NY themed products). You may also know her as DJ Kai Song’s mom (@djkaisong), who’s been DJ-ing in Dumbo since he was 3-years-old! Randi’s also the woman behind many DUMBO BID +  Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy events.
