Village Community Boathouse: Community Boatbuilding at BBP

Join the experienced boat builders of the Village Community Boathouse as they construct a 14-foot-long Whitehall rowboat in BBP’s Community Room at 99 Plymouth. Named after the Lower Manhattan street that now ends at the Staten Island Ferry Terminal, Whitehalls were the water taxis of their day, speedily ferrying passengers across the East River and to and from ships at anchor in the harbor. Boat builders and volunteers will be present during the DUMBO First Thursday Gallery Walk to demonstrate boatbuilding techniques. This exhibit will be on display until May 22.
