Art + Culture
The Donmar Warehouse returns to St. Ann’s with The Tempest, the third and final production of Phyllida Lloyd’s revelatory all-female Shakespeare Trilogy set in a women’s prison and featuring Harriet Walter, “one of the best Shakespeareans alive” (The Guardian), as Prospero.
St. Ann’s has been a proud home for the trilogy which has ignited a cultural and social conversation about gender, equality and aspiration on both sides of the Atlantic, as it empowers women to play Shakespearean roles normally reserved for men. The Tempest will be presented with a comprehensive education program for New York City youth in the juvenile justice system and underserved young women (5 weeks, January 13 – February 12).
Runtime: 2 hours, no intermission.
