September First Thursday

September 1
6:00 pm – 9:00 pm

The art season starts right here in DUMBO on September 1st with our First Thursday Gallery Walk, and we’ve got your guide to the robust line-up of openings, performances and cultural activity right here!

This month, be sure to check out the Made in NY Media Center by IFP’s exploration of the dreams of our digital counterparts; Museum Quality’s Baroque Masters on Cardboard, which attempts to reclaim old master paintings as pagan, feminist and queer; and a sculptural installation that requires both a physical and online engagement at This Friday or Next Friday.

Plus, projected onto the Manhattan Bridge, Light Year will present “Earth Revisited” curated by Leo Kuelbs. This month’s collection of videos asks artists to reexamine their relationship to the earth itself. Projections start at dusk in Pearl Street Triangle and continue until 10pm.

Under the Archway #LiveAtTheArchway is bringing DUMBO’s own White Wave Dance Company out for a special evening of site specific dance. With beer, wine and bites from our landlocked Lighthouse and the epic scenery below the Manhattan Bridge, it’s the place to be on Thursday nights.

Galleries will stay open ’til 9 – plenty of time to scope out new art and pop into one of DUMBO’s small shops and grab a bite at one of the neighborhood’s many restaurants and bars.
