Architects Open their Doors in DUMBO

Situ Studio transformed the Brooklyn Museum

On Saturday, February 25th, Open House New York (OHNY) will kick off a new series openstudios in DUMBO with an event all about the architecture and design community of DUMBO. Thought DUMBO was all about digital? This tour will show you the best in the physical creators of the neighborhood. DUMBO has dozens of amazing firms, creating award winning buildings, installations, renovations and urban places. A few examples:

The openstudios event is being organized by OHNY (and will raise funds for their organization) along with the Architect’s Newspaper, the DUMBO Improvement District and Two Trees Management Co. You are probably familiar with OHNY their annual “Open House New York Weekend” that provides access to some of the City’s most interesting and intriguing spaces.

“We are very excited to launch our new openstudios series,” says Renee Schacht, executive director of OHNY, “since it exemplifies two aspects of OHNY’s mission – to make architecture and design more accessible to the public and to inspire and encourage people to explore different neighborhoods that are truly unique, such as DUMBO.”

From 1:00-5:00PM on the 25th, twenty-five architecture and design firms in DUMBO will open their doors to attendees on OHNY’s self-guided tour. Openstudios DUMBO will showcase the DUMBO shops, their creative projects and their inspirational environments.

A complete list of participating firms is below.  You can participate in openstudios DUMBO by purchasing a ticket ($30) here.
