Etsy is Hands-On in DUMBO

Etsy Hands-on Series

After taking a break for the month of January, Etsy Labs is back… in a slightly different format: a new monthly series called Hands-on Etsy.

Hands-on Etsy revamps Craft Night with special guest artists and new creative processes centered around themes and seasons.  The series will take place one night each month, but to keep you on your toes, the day of the week that the event is held will vary.  (Stay tuned to The DUMBO Decoder for the event each month.)

We spoke to Sara Cohen, the Public Programming Manager at Etsy HQ, and here is what she has to say about their exciting announcement, “The response to our creative programming throughout the years has been incredibly inspiring, and it is a key part of the way we connect with Etsy buyers and sellers. With Etsy Hands-On, we are creating higher impact events to engage with new and existing communities face-to-face. We welcome individuals and groups at all skill levels to come get their hands dirty with us, try a new project and meet fellow community members.”

For February, Hands-on Etsy naturally focuses on Valentine’s Day with a kick-off event on February 7.  They’ve teamed up with Sesame Press for an event that will make a crafters heart swoon.  Tabletop presses will be set-up with two designs for coasters, and a Vandercook press will be available to print a folded card.  Sounds like fun? RSVP here; there is currently a waitlist, but we are told more tickets will be available closer to the event date.

Even if you can’t make it to DUMBO for crafting, you can still help Etsy spread Valentine’s Day cheer to those in need of some sweetness.  Again this year, they’ve partnered with Citymeals-on-Wheels for the Share Your Love card campaign to bring nutritious meals, handmade greeting cards, and companionship to elderly New Yorkers this Valentine’s Day.
