TunnelVision:DUMBO Dance Party Launches Aug 16

The DUMBO Improvement District, in partnership with BBOX Radio, is thrilled to announce the launch of TunnelVision:DUMBO, a seasonal series of community-centric dance events taking place in the Archway under the Manhattan Bridge. The inaugural event on Saturday, August 16 will feature a lineup of DJs spinning everything from world beat to soul to house music, plus public art and family-friendly fun, MC’d by Tony-nominated Broadway star Sahr Ngaujah. The event is free and open to all.

“Our mission is to inspire creativity and build community using quality music, dance and art in a monumental public space,” says the TunnelVision team. “We’re putting a 21st century spin on the traditional Brooklyn block party.”

“Think of it as a mash-up between Brooklyn Museum’s First Saturday and PS1 Warm Up, with a DUMBO twist,” said Alexandria Sica, executive director of the DUMBO Improvement District.

About Tunnel Vision:

Tunnel Vision was founded by William Ellis, Asen James and Spencer Blake, a creative team with countless years of collective experience in graphic design, art and event production for world companies which include Coca Cola, Proctor and Gamble and Universal Music Group.

The Tunnel Vision team also includes a team of incredible creative and musical talent including Sahr Ngaujah of the Broadway play “Fela”, with participating DJs Donald G. Bernard, Monday Blue and Mr. Klean.

The team’s vision is to create an uplifting and unifying experience that appeals to the refined sensibility of the DUMBO community. They want to use art and music to exemplify what makes DUMBO and New York City in general such an awesome place to visit and live.
