The Derby returns to Smack Mellon

Smack Mellon’s annual Kentucky Derby Party & Art Auction returns on May 2, and there’s no better way to take in the action at Churchill Downs than from the comfort of Brooklyn!

One ticket admits two to the best Derby party outside Louisville and guarantees that you walk away with a piece of art. (How many other Derby parties can say the same? Right, we thought so.) Place your bet on your horse of choice: bet right and you’ll pick first from the diverse selection of talented artists. Pick last? Don’t worry, there’s art for all! And there’s more: entertainment by Master of Ceremonies Guy Richards Smit, music by The Birdhive Boys, tasty treats from Urban Rustic, a best hat contest, and a silent auction. Know before you go, and check out the art online.

The Derby Party supports Smack Mellon’s stellar programs. Their mission is to nurture and support emerging, under-recognized mid-career and women artists in the creation and exhibition of new work, by providing exhibition opportunities, studio workspace, and access to equipment and technical assistance for the realization of ambitious projects. This event is supported by generous donations from Two Trees Management Co., Blanc & Rouge, Hyperallergic, Kelso Beer Company and Please B Seated.

See you at the race!
