#Sneckdown Spotting in DUMBO
#Sneckdown is the latest trend in social media — and in urban planning. The term is a combination of “snow” and “neckdown,” traffic lingo for curb extension, to describe snow formations on the streets that reveal the space that cars do not use. Traffic engineers and designers have used the practice to identify potential traffic calming interventions without causing much loss to car drivers. The traffic calming interventions that are ultimately implemented slows down turning cars and shortens pedestrian crossings. Sneckdown has also been instrumental in the creation of public plazas that are transforming cities before our eyes.
