Little Muenster Launches Nicaraguan Pop-Up
Our favorite “super fancy grilled cheese” shop is shaking things up this summer by launching “Little Nica,” a Nicaraguan street food pop-up in their DUMBO location. Inspired by her family’s heritage, co-owner Vanessa Palazio says it’s always been a dream to bring Nicaraguan food to the U.S. “Americans have become accustomed to Latin flavors and we feel that we can expand their horizons even more,” says Vanessa and Adam Schneider, the other half of the Little Muenster team.
So what can you get at Little Nica? The pop-up is serving quesillos – handmade corn tortillas full of soft cow’s milk cheese, pickled onions, and crema rolled up. Think quesadilla meets burrito. Choose from tasty add-ons such as smashed avocado, slow roasted pork, and braised lengua (beef tongue). The Little Muenster team plans to add side dishes such as gallo pinto (rice & beans) and madura (sweet plantains) in the future.
We sampled yesterday and the DUMBO BID office is hooked!
Check out Little Nica from now until the end of September at 145 Front Street between Pearl and Jay Streets.
