Ride 40 Miles Along Brooklyn-Queens Waterfront

The Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway, which will run through DUMBO connecting Greenpoint to Sunset Park, has been in the works for nearly a decade.  The 14-mile route will be the first of its kind in Brooklyn and will be a welcomed amenity for tourists and commuters alike. Consisting of separated bike and pedestrians lanes, the route largely follows the contours of the East River and will be a key component to the revitalization of Brooklyn’s waterfront districts.  Five miles of the Greenway are already available for public use and two additional miles along West Street and around the Brooklyn Navy Yard are now being designed.

To demonstrate the potential of a completed greenway, The Epic Ride will take place rain or shine on July 27th starting at 8am. The 40-mile ride begins in Greenpoint, rolls through DUMBO, and finishes at Rockaway Beach.  Following the ride, participants can enjoy an after-party on the beach, complete with live music and Rockaway’s food vendors.

Part of the ride will roll through DUMBO and the Brooklyn Greenway Initiative is looking for additional sponsors in the neighborhood.  The ride offers team registration — a great opportunity for DUMBO’s business community to get involved! Corporate teams of four riders will get a reduced price — not to mention a great team bonding experience.
