Jane’s Walk – DUMBO Public Art May 3

On Saturday, May 3, Jane’s Walks presents DUMBO Public Art Tour with Lisa Kim, Director of Cultural Affairs for Two Trees Management Company.

Jane’s Walks are free, locally organized walking tours, in which people get together to explore, talk about and celebrate their neighborhoods. Where more traditional tours are a bit like walking lectures, a Jane’s Walk is more of a walking conversation. Leaders share their knowledge, but also encourage discussion and participation among the walkers.

While the murals and public art installations may be familiar to DUMBO locals, the walks will be about more than just looking at art. There will be conversations about  the process and private-public partnerships that made these works possible. Jane’s Walks wants you to question, “Consider where, why and who programs the art in your community. What does the presence of art do for the local community? What value do we we place on these free open air exhibits?”

Meet Lisa Kim, on May 3rd at 11:30AM. Meeting Place: York + Jay Streets at the “YES!” mural, across from the York Street F train station. For more information, click here.
