Hungry to meet new DUMBO folks (and for lunch)?
DUMBO LunchMeet, a new weekly event created by graphic designer Adriana Torres, invites neighborhood workers to network and nosh on a red picnic blanket in Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Pebble Beach. This free, casual meetup runs every Thursday at 1PM (follow @DUMBOLunchMeet for the latest info).
“DUMBO is unique: since we are somewhat tucked away from everything else, there is a built-in camaraderie that you wouldn’t get if you worked in Midtown, for example,” Adriana recently told DNAInfo. “Everyone is doing such cool, innovative things and the best way to continue that is to make new connections.”
Here’s Adriana’s description of DUMBO LunchMeet:
Ah, lunchtime in DUMBO. Already this week you’ve gone through your cycle of bodega sandwich, food truck fare, Foragers, and Front Street Pizza, and you need a change. Or maybe you packed leftovers and you don’t want to end up having yet another sad desk lunch. Or perhaps you really like your co-workers but sometimes you want to branch out a little and haven’t yet figured out how. All of these are reasons to join DUMBO LunchMeet: an open invitation to anyone who works in the neighborhood and wants to meet new people, find networking opportunities, or make a new friend, and shake up their lunch routine in the meantime. It would be wasted potential not to take advantage of all the different people and amazing ideas concentrated in this area, so please join us Thursdays at 1:00pm on the lawn in front of the Main Street playground — look for the red picnic blanket. Just bring your lunch and yourself, and cookies will be provided as often as possible.
