Hack DUMBO is June 15!

Lately it seems nary a weekend passes without a hackathon (BigApps! POV!) going down in some corner of the city. Which is awesome — we’re all about supporting NYC’s growing tech scene. But now that the sun is shining, isn’t it time to get some fresh air?

Say hello to Hack DUMBO, NYC’s first open, outdoor hack! On Saturday, June 15, we’re teaming up with DUMBO Developers for an afternoon of coding and community under the Archway. Make no mistake, this isn’t another hackathon, just a few hours of peace and fresh air to work on that pet-project and socialize with your fellow developers. DUMBO’s free public Wifi will power laptops; slices of pizza will power participants. The event is free and open to the public, but you’ve got to register: http://hackdumbo.eventbrite.com/.

“I have worked in tech all over New York, and I can say without a doubt that DUMBO has more energy, creative talent, and entrepreneurial spirit than anywhere else. The people who are here dedicate themselves to the community simply for the love of it,” says DUMBO Developers founder Robert Whitney. “This event is a unique opportunity for software developers from all over the city to get out from behind the desk and come experience that spirit first hand, and it’s in one of the more unique and beautiful locations New York has to offer.”
