Art + Culture

First Thursday is June 4

DUMBO’s First Thursday Gallery Walk is June 4, and we’re celebrating the start of summer with shiny new (ground floor!) gallery spaces, a dance party under the Archway and projections on the bridge!

Here’s your guide to the openings, performances, and cultural activities happening across the neighborhood:

JUNE FIRST THURSDAY GALLERY WALK MAP + LISTINGS

Rock out under the Archway with two DUMBO DJs––eleven year old DJ Kai, and DJ Ductape, aka our very own Cara Lee Sparry of Superfine & The Lighthouse–while enjoying the fantastical hula hooping of Miss Saturn. Outside the Archway, on the Pearl St side of the Manhattan Bride, Light Year presents Crest and Trough, a seven-video projection featuring artists from all seven continents, curated by DUMBO’s own Sarah Walko and John Ensor Parker. Projections begin at dusk.

As always, galleries around the neighborhood stay open ’til 9 — perfect opportunity to scope out new art and then grab a bite or a drink at one of our great local restaurants or pop into one of DUMBO’s small shops. This month, we can’t wait to check out the artist talk with Alexandria Smith at A.I.R Gallery (that’s at 6:30pm) and catch Transflexion: The Net of Mirrors at Made in NY Media Center by IFP.
