First Thursday Gallery Walk is August 1

Spend a warm summer evening exploring art in DUMBO! The First Thursday Gallery Walk on August 1 offers a robust line-up of openings, events and performances sprinkled across the neighborhood. Venues stay open late and DUMBO’s eateries (including the brand-new Atrium Dumbo at 15 Main) offer plenty of tasty options to fuel your evening.

This month, we can’t wait to check out FRESH 2013: Annual Summer Show at Klompching Gallery, which showcases five exciting new voices in contemporary photography: Manuel Cosentino, Peter Croteau, Priya Kambli, Chang Kyun Kim and Maxine Helfman. But you don’t have to take our word for it — here’s a HuffPo review of Cosentino’s “Behind a Little House” series:

“The subject of the project is a tiny, nondescript house positioned ever so modestly on an unnamed hill. Cosentino photographed the small residence for close to two years, capturing the wild and dramatic weather patterns that took place just beyond the home’s roof.

The resulting images — stark tableaus that showcase the barely-there house contrasted against impossible to miss landscapes — are nothing short of breathtaking.”
