Family Fun in DUMBO at PS8 Fall Festival October 5

The annual Fall Family Festival will take over Main Street Playground on Saturday, October 5 to raise funds for the Robert Fulton School, the local public school serving DUMBO and Vinegar Hill. While activities for little ones abound – bouncy castles, pirate ship rides, and something called the “whirly Bird” – DUMBO companies are bringing their creative edge to fun activities: West Elm, Creatively Wild Art Studios, and One Girl Cookies will sponsor T-shirt decorating, Arts & Crafts, and Cookie Decorating. (The DUMBO Improvement District is a proud sponsor, as well!)

Not only a fun family-friendly neighborhood event, the Festival’s proceeds will go directly to the Robert Fulton School’s long list of PTA-funded programs. The public school boasts a curriculum that encourages active citizens through service learning and solving real world problems. Last year, for example, students participated in an environmental campaign against deforestation by creating a PSA for the school district, and Kindergarten students partnered with the local service organization Wings Over Haiti to raise awareness and resources for earthquake victims.

Join the neighborhood in making this year’s event even more successful than last year, when PS8 raised over $10,000 for local kids. Tickets can be purchased for $35 (cash) per family at the festival entrance at Main Street Playground, between Plymouth and Water Streets.

Festival Location: The Main Street Playground in Brooklyn Bridge Park.
