DUMBO Is Hiring Fall 2017 Interns

Want to have your finger on the pulse of one of Brooklyn’s most exciting neighborhoods? Join our team for Fall 2017! The DUMBO Improvement District is looking to hire interns to assist with the development, planning, production, promotion and documentation of a wide range of community events, including gallery walks, food festivals, public art installations, city planning initiatives. If you’re an urbanist with an entrepreneurial spirit and a creative spark, this is the perfect hands-on learning opportunity!

Requirements

Overall tech savvy-ness, including social media experience and Adobe experience; Experience with website content development and management; General knowledge of DUMBO / Brooklyn neighborhood development (or a desire to learn); Strong oral and written communication skills; Office experience working at a small nonprofit or startup; Experience with event production strongly preferred.

The roles are:

  • Events + Marketing Intern: Help produce a robust schedule of public programs in the Archway under the Manhattan Bridge, including planning, execution, documentation and marketing. Get the full details here.
  • Community Development Intern: Assist with urban planning and advocacy activities, including outreach with local businesses, stakeholders and city agencies; mapping community assets; and community surveys. Get the full details here.

Schedule

Minimum 24 hours per week; office hours are Monday-Friday from 10am-6pm. Additional nights and weekends will be required for special events.
