DUMBO CSA Deadline 4/29

Farmer Fred is back! Signups are now open for the DUMBO CSA, which brings fresh produce and cheese from Long Island farms directly to our neighborhood.

How it works: The DUMBO CSA’s season runs from June to mid-November this year. Members prepay for the season and then each week pick up their fresh, locally-grown, organic vegetables.  To foster community within the CSA, every member is required to contribute two volunteer shifts over the course of the season (approximately 4 hours total). Pickup is at the Phoenix House on 50 Jay Street on Wednesday evenings from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

This year, the DUMBO CSA will be offering:

  • Full or partial vegetable shares, with fresh, local vegetables provided by Sang Lee Farms on Long Island. Full shares will receive 8-10 different kinds of vegetables, and partial shares will receive a selection of the same, but fewer items from the full share.  (Season is 23 weeks.)
  • Fruit shares are provided by Briermere Farms.  A typical share consists of two containers of berries, or one container of berries and three pounds of fruit, or six pounds of fruit. (Season is 18 weeks starting in mid-July.)
  • Cheese shares (18 weeks) consist of 4-6 ounces of cheese each week from four different artisan cheese providers (Catapano Dairy FarmMecox Bay DairyHarpersfield Cheese, and Goodale Farms).
