First Thursday

DUMBO Companies Are Hiring. Big Time.

Last week, the New York Post ran a story about digital companies in DUMBO looking to fill 329 jobs. We worked with the Post on the story to toot the DUMBO horn and wholeheartedly agree with Rich Calder that at a time when New York is dealing with 9% unemployment – it’s remarkable!

Tech Wreck? More like Tech Opportunity: DUMBO companies are growing rapidly thanks to the talent that is here – creating amazing new products and services, and doing it beautifully. It’s a confluence of design, tech and entrepreneurship and a major opportunity for the City.

As you may have read or watched, the DUMBO Improvement District along with leaders from many of our tech members such as Etsy, HUGE, Pontiflex, Red Antler and others, have been pushing the City to double down on their Applied Sciences Initiative by building a new NYU innovation campus at 370 Jay (the CUSP plan). The idea is to create more talent right here in our back yard. Talent attraction and creating more space for growing companies are top priorities. We’re excited about building a thriving Tech Triangle with your help. This means bringing our membership together with partners throughout Brooklyn – from the Navy Yard to the Downtown Partnership to Brooklyn Bridge Ventures and NYU – to find ways to grow this industry right here where you want to be.

Below is a list of DUMBO BID members that we know have positions open right now / have confirmed plans to hire in the very near future. (As a reminder, if you’re a business in DUMBO, you’re a member!) This is not exhaustive and we would love to add your company to the list if it’s applicable.

Also, please check out our new map of the neighborhood’s main office buildings. We know finding space in DUMBO is challenging right now – so please reach out to us if you are looking to grow here. We will do all that we can to make sure that can happen.
