CoolNY Dance Festival Offers 100+ Performances
This year marks the tenth anniversary of the CoolNY Dance Festival, which brings sixty dance troupes to DUMBO for a two-week celebration of art, movement and “the magic of the city.”
Curated by WHITE WAVE artistic director Young Soon Kim, the festival spotlights the best and brightest in contemporary dance, from rising choreographers to established ensembles. In an effort to reach new audiences, this year’s line-up includes two family-friendly Saturday matinee performances from the WHITE WAVE’s Kids program.
The festival kicks off Thursday, Jan 30 with an Opening Night Benefit, giving guests the opportunity to mingle with featured performers and choreographers and explore WHITE WAVE’s post-Sandy renovations.
With the exception of the Benefit ($50), all CoolNY Dance Festival shows are free and open to the public. Details and full schedule can be found here.
