Celebrate National Robotics Week with HUGE

On March 9, 2010, the U.S. Representatives passed resolution H.Res 1055, officially designating the second full week in April as National Robotics Week. This year, HUGE is teaming up with Honeybee Robotics to bring robo-technology action to DUMBO on Tuesday, April 9 (including a special appearance by the NYPD bomb squad robot!). Building on the theme of “New Frontiers in Robotics: Extending the Human Reach” the event will feature leading robot developers sharing the latest from the field. The lineup includes:
  • Honeybee Robotics showing work on Phoenix Satellite Servicing Robot (bringing hardware models & videos)
  • NYPD Bomb Squad demonstrating a bomb squad robot
  • Yi Guo from Stevens Institute speaking on her research on controlling swarms of robots (
  • Falkor Systems demonstrating their personal robots – quadcoptors – flying video capture for sports & arts
  • Lauri Bishop from Columbia University demonstrating therapeutic robots, Myomo and Tibion Bionic Leg. (Myomo is a therapeutic device that is triggered by EMG signal and triggers the muscle when it reads that nerve firing; Tibion is a knee extension assistance device)
  • Ivan Dryansovski presenting his research on using Kinect for rapid 3D visual mapping

The event runs from 7-10PM and is free and open to the public. Click here to RSVP.
