Brooklyn Celebrates INT’L Day of Friendship

International Day of Friendship is celebrated around the world as countries partake in a variety of events to promote peace and unity. With nearly one million foreign-born residents living here, Brooklyn is a diverse melting pot, which makes it the perfect place to host an International Day of Friendship celebration.

On Sunday, August 3, 2014, the world will get the opportunity to see how Brooklynites “spread love the Brooklyn way.”  Led by Borough President Eric Adams, the mission is to build One Brooklyn: bridging gaps between cultures and making bonds of friendship that connect people in all communities throughout Brooklyn and the world. Brooklyn’s first International Day of Friendship Celebration will be held at Brooklyn Borough Hall and Columbus Park, with a variety of engaging events that will showcase Brooklyn’s diversity. This free, family friendly event will take place from 11:00 AM- 5:00 PM, starting with a Unity Parade of Flags, Cultural Performances and Continental Cuisine.
