10th Annual Meeting: Recap

Last week, on May 19, members of the DUMBO Improvement District packed the Archway to celebrate ten years of the DUMBO Improvement District. 350+ enthusiastic DUMBOnians showed up, donned SoundOff headsets, toasted our decade with beers from the Lighthouse, enjoyed performances by DUMBO artists, and celebrated all of the DUMBO Dozen and Magic Feather recipients.

“The before and after of DUMBO is really something!” said Executive Director Alexandria Sica as she showed images of the Archway and Pearl Street Triangle before they were transformed into plaza spaces, the BQE before it was covered with DUMBO Walls, and many other great works of the organization over the last ten years.

And the Awardees Are….

As is tradition, we honored individuals and organizations in DUMBO who have contributed to the neighborhood in a significant way with a Magic Feather, and highlight those doing fascinating and impactful work in their industries with a DUMBO Dozen Award. You can read about the many deserving awardees here.

Here’s a look back on the BID’s many accomplishments over the past ten years, from converting public spaces, advocating for Brooklyn Bridge Park and working with the city on neighborhood infrastructure improvements to public art installations, neighborhood PR, free wifi and community events.
